The UFA DEFA Studios are a location of great importance and fame in the history of European Film. When purchased by a French company after the fall of the East German State, the new owners sought international help to bring the studio back to where it could once again play its leading role in the international entertainment market.
The studio lot was newly master planned, with new building pads for additional stages and production buildings. Quality and image enhancing interventions such as an extensive new hardscape design, and a new entrance gate give the studio once again a proud and unified appearance.
Gerhard W. Mayer was the lead architect on this project.
