Dana Point is a city without a downtown. As Gertrud Stein once said about Oakland apllies here as well: “There is no there there.”
The design seeks to jumpstart a lively urbanity by creating a pedestrian environment and virtual buildings. The project falls under the theoretical construct descried under 'Downtowns from Nowhere' in the 'Viewpoint' Section of this Website.
A commercial street level and two stories of apartments are located above below grade parking. A roof top bar will afford ocean views and a commanding view down PCH, the main street leading into Dana Point.
